Basketball Game Preview: John Hay vs. Buchtel Griffins

John Hay will head out to square off against the Buchtel Griffins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. John Hay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.3 points per game this season.

Back in December of 2024, everything came up roses for John Hay against Glenville as the team secured a 68-17 win. John Hay has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 40 points or more this season.

John Hay's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jordyn Webb, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards. Webb is also crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Anaiyah General, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, ten rebounds, and ten steals.

Meanwhile, Buchtel was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by Louisville 64-36. While losing is never fun, the Griffins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 643rd, while the Leopards are ranked 255th).

John Hay's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Buchtel, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.
