Soccer Game Preview: Ridgway vs. Crested Butte

Ridgway is 0-10 against Crested Butte since May of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Demons will venture away from home to face off against the Titans at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Tuesday, Ridgway made easy work of Grand Valley and carried off a 6-1 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 4-0.

Ridgway hit Grand Valley with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Addy Gardiner (4), Sasha Kingsford, and Izzy Katz.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crested Butte). They never let Bayfield get on the board and left with a 10-0 win last Friday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Crested Butte's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Bayfield are ranked 208th).

The victory made it two in a row for Ridgway and bumps their season record up to 3-2-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 16 goals over those two matches. As for Crested Butte, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-2.

Ridgway suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Crested Butte in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Demons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
