Soccer Game Preview: Pitman vs. Modesto

The Pitman Pride will head out to take on the Modesto Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Pitman took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Downey 2-1.

Christian Flores and Damyan Guevara scored both of Pitman's goals, bringing their combined season tally to six goals.

Meanwhile, Modesto has been on a difficult stretch since their win on January 13. They and Gregori finished up their contest with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Pitman's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored eight goals over those three matches. Modesto's draw makes their record 9-8-6 this season.

Pitman was able to grind out a solid victory over Modesto in their previous meeting back in January, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pride since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
