Football Recap: Del Mar Takes a Loss

If Del Mar was riding high fresh off their 48-6 takedown of Evergreen Valley two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dons came up short against the Lincoln Lions on Friday, falling 47-21. Despite 84 more yards than the Lions, the Dons couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Despite the loss, Del Mar still got an impressive performance from Aidan Rock, who rushed for 97 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries. Rock's longest rush was for an impressive 54 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.

Lincoln found their leader in sophomore Luca Papoulias, who threw for 154 yards and four TDs on only 12 passes. Those four passing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Papoulias.

Del Mar's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lincoln, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.

Del Mar has already played their next contest, a 38-10 loss against Gunderson on the 3rd. As for Lincoln, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Branham at 7:15 p.m. on the 9th. The game will give the Lions their first taste of in-conference action this season.
