Football Recap: Palmyra-Macedon Skates Past Vertus with Ease

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Palmyra-Macedon's strategy against Vertus on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Red Raiders blew the Warriors out of the water with a 39-7 final score. The Red Raiders pushed the score to 32-7 by the end of the third, a deficit the Warriors had little chance of recovering from.

Palmyra-Macedon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camron Quick, who threw for 217 yards and four touchdowns. Quick has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Mason Delmarle helped Quick out on the ground, rushing for 106 yards and one TD on only 12 carries.

Palmyra-Macedon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Trey Porpora, Quick, and Adam Rapp Jr picked up one apiece. Porpora got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Palmyra-Macedon has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 points this season. As for Vertus, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Palmyra-Macedon will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Whitman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Vertus, they will venture away from home to take on Penn Yan Academy/Dundee at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
