League recap: Boone's hot bat leads McLaurin

3A Region 6 league recap: 3/27/13

Tommy Boone was on fire this week, as he led 3A Region 6 with a .476 average, one home run and six RBIs. McLaurin compiled a record of 4-1 in that time.

The league's top pitcher this week was St. Andrews Episcopal's William Rowell. Over the past week, he had two wins and eight Ks.

The Saints' pitching staff had a strong showing this week, allowing only 14 hits and 16 walks, both of which led the league.

Eight batters hit over .400 this week. The group was paced by Matt Taylor, who collected two hits in three at bats for a .667 average.

The week's strikeout crown belonged to Daniel Briner, who turned in 15 Ks for St. Andrews Episcopal. With 37 strikeouts this year so far, he ranks first in the league.



Boone was an RBI machine on Monday, as he knocked in four runs during the Tigers' 10-3 win over Raleigh. He went 3-for-5 and scored two runs.

The Saints' Briner threw seven shutout innings in a 7-0 win over Morton on Tuesday. He struck out 15, allowing one hit.
