Baseball Recap: McCann Tech Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount Everett Regional, McCann Tech was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Turners Falls Thunder. For the Hornets, this counts as revenge for the 3-2 win the Thunder walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2024.

Brody Smith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, McCann Tech's victory was truly a team effort as two different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Turner, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases.

McCann Tech's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Turners Falls, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McCann Tech will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Franklin County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Turners Falls, they will challenge Greenfield at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
