Softball Recap: New Bremen Takes a Loss

The matchup between New Bremen and Coldwater on Saturday hardly resembled the 2-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Cardinals came up short against the Cavaliers, falling 19-6. If the Cardinals were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Cavaliers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Halle Kuenning and Sarah Dwenger stepped up to the plate in a big way. Kuenning went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Dwenger went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Lydia Bushman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

New Bremen's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Coldwater, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-12 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Bremen will take on Lincolnview at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Coldwater, they will challenge Van Wert at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
