Baseball Recap: Amity Comes Up Short

Amity extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They lost 9-2 to the Scio Loggers. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 12, 2023, but that streak is no more.

As for Scio, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Scio's part, Hunter Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Scio let Haydin Tibbs and Carter Flack run wild. Tibbs went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Flack went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave Flack a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Henry Siegmund, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and two runs.

Coming up, Amity will square off against Dayton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors are facing the Pirates at the right time seeing as the Pirates are stuck on a five-game losing streak. Scio will be paying especially close attention to Amity's match: after Amity faces off against Dayton, they'll take on Scio again at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
