Softball Recap: Viewmont Vikings vs. Clearfield Falcons
Viewmont had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 10-13 to make it six. They came up short against the Clearfield Falcons, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-4 back in April.
Marlee Moser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
As for Clearfield, their record is now 13-8. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won nine matches by six runs or more so far this season.
On Clearfield's side, Jenna Lloyd spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Lloyd has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Clearfield let Alexandra Bingham and Brynn Nicholls run wild. Bingham went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base, while Nicholls went 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Lara, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
As of now, neither Viewmont nor Clearfield have any future games scheduled.
