Softball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne fell victim to Geneva and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

Wayne saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jesse Newmyer, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Wayne has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Geneva, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne will take on Palmyra-Macedon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Geneva, they will head out to take on Penn Yan Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.5 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
