Baseball Game Preview: Normal University Pioneers vs. Glenwood Titans

The Normal University Pioneers will take on the Glenwood Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Normal University 4, Glenwood 3.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Normal University blew Pleasant Plains out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Monday Pleasant Plains got their revenge. The Pioneers fell just short of the Cardinals by a score of 6-4. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Glenwood scored first but ultimately less than Belleville West in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Maroons by a score of 4-3.

Michael Lucas made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that he has brought in this season.

Glenwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-7 record this season. As for Normal University, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.

Normal University couldn't quite get it done against Glenwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 5-0. Can the Pioneers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
