Basketball Recap: Norwood's Run of Five Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but Norwood unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 63-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hartville Eagles. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Eagles earlier this season, when they won 42-36.

Norwood's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Noah Drake, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points. That's the most points Drake has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Vaughan, who went 6 for 12 en route to 14 points.

Norwood's defeat dropped their record down to 18-2. As for Hartville, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Norwood will face off against Fordland at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hartville, they will take on Chadwick at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
