Recap: Emery/Weiner vs. Lutheran South Academy Pioneers
It was a good run, but Emery/Weiner unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. The match between Emery/Weiner and Lutheran South Academy wasn't particularly close, with Emery/Weiner falling 75-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Tuesday (57), Emery/Weiner still had to take the loss.
When it comes to explaining why Emery/Weiner lost, one person who can't be blamed is Harper Scheinman. Despite the final result, he scored 27 points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Mintz, who scored 23 points.
Kai Conerly continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lutheran South Academy, scoring 16 points along with six assists. Those six assists set a new season-high mark for him. Kole Alexander was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and five assists.
Emery/Weiner's loss dropped their record down to 7-1. As for Lutheran South Academy, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.
Emery/Weiner will take on Kelly Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Kelly Catholic is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Lutheran South Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Second Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Second Baptist knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Lutheran South Academy likes a good challenge.
