Baseball Game Preview: Caston Comets vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

Caston is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Lafayette Central Catholic is on an eight-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Comets will host the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Caston let Winamac stack four runs on them in the sixth inning on Saturday but luckily Caston prevailed anyway. The Comets had just enough and edged out the Warriors 8-7. The game was the first time the Comets have beaten the Warriors on their field since April 28, 2023.

Eli Holloway was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-8 victory over Clinton Prairie on Monday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Gophers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Caston is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Lafayette Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
