Football Game Preview: Bergenfield Bears vs. Tenafly Tigers

Bergenfield has gone a perfect 3-0 against Tenafly recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bears are taking a road trip to challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Bergenfield is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Teaneck last Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Bears had to suffer through a 42-14 loss at the hands of the Highwaymen. The Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Xavier Valdez, who threw for 194 yards and a pair of touchdowns. A healthy portion of that aerial production (113 yards to be exact) went to Jeremy Duran, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 40-7, which was the final score in Tenafly's tilt against Saddle Brook on Wednesday.

Tenafly's defeat dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Bergenfield, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.

Everything went Bergenfield's way against Tenafly in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Bergenfield made off with a 36-13 victory. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
