Softball Recap: Lehighton Indians vs. Palmerton Blue Bombers
Lehighton extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-11 in the process. They came up short against the Palmerton Blue Bombers, falling 14-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Blue Bombers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 7-0 back in March.
As for Palmerton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-7. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by six runs or more this season.
For Palmerton's part, HAILEY BARRY made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. BARRY was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Palmerton got a massive performance out of GRACE SCHNEIDER, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, one stolen base, and two RBI. MIKAYLA PENGELLY was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Looking ahead, Lehighton will be playing in front of their home fans against Northern Lehigh at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Palmerton, they will square off against Northwestern Lehigh at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
