Softball Recap: Leland Comes Up Short

Leland came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Gilroy Mustangs, falling 18-2. The matchup marked the Chargers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Leland saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sarah Baggott, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. Irene Kim was another, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Leland dropped their record down to 2-3 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Gilroy, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leland will host Leigh at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Leland is facing Leigh at the right time seeing as Leigh is stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Gilroy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ann Sobrato at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilroy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Ann Sobrato has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
