Recap: Wake Forest Cougars vs. Heritage Huskies
The Wake Forest Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their tenth straight defeat. They took a hard 61-45 fall against Heritage. While losing is never fun, Wake Forest can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 469th, while Heritage is ranked 121st).
Wake Forest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Juel Tillery, who scored 13 points along with two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Smith, who scored eight points.
Heritage's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Levi Beckwith, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Jon Mwanda was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Wake Forest's loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-20. As for Heritage, their win bumped their record up to 12-8.
Wake Forest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 69-55 defeat vs. Wakefield on the 9th. Heritage has also already played their next match, a 77-41 win against Athens Drive on the 7th.
