Softball Recap: Florida Christian Wins Going Away Against Cooper City

Florida Christian's tournament run continued when they took on Cooper City on Friday. The Patriots put the hurt on the Cowboys with a sharp 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Shaun Fernandez made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over seven innings pitched. Fernandez was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

In other batting news, Charlee Arana was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kayla Diaz, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Florida Christian's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Cooper City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.

Florida Christian will host Miami Country Day at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season. As for Cooper City, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 12-2 win against Canterbury on the 5th.
