Baseball Recap: Saint Jeanne De Lestonnac Catholic School's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They walked away with a 12-7 victory over the Environmental Charter White Tigers. Considering the Mustangs' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Brandon Morinaga was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Morinaga was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with five stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 5-1 (and 3-8 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School got a massive performance out of Bodhi Duenas, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Duenas has become a key player for the Mustangs: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sean Bender, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run.

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School moved to 8-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Environmental Charter, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-9.

Coming up, Saint Jeanne de Lestonnac Catholic School will take on Santa Rosa Academy at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rangers will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. Environmental Charter does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
