Baseball Game Preview: Castro Valley Trojans vs. Encinal Jets

For the second straight game, Castro Valley will face off against Encinal. The Trojans will be playing at home against the Jets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Castro Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.

Castro Valley is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 11 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Encinal on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Jets by a score of 2-1.

For Encinal's part, Sebastian Brune tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. What's more, Brune posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, Encinal saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evan Furuichi, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

The win made it two in a row for Encinal and bumps their season record up to 14-6. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for Castro Valley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-12 record this season.
