Swansboro takes loss despite strong efforts from Brooke Brady and Kendall Hackworth

The Swansboro Pirates's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 38-37 to West Carteret. Swansboro was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Carteret apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Swansboro's loss came despite strong showings from Kendall Hackworth and Brooke Brady. Hackworth scored 15 points along with six rebounds and four blocks, while Brady dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Hackworth scored 15 or more points.

Swansboro has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for West Carteret, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Swansboro will be playing in front of their home fans against Dixon at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Dixon is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for West Carteret, they will head out on the road to take on Richlands at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Richlands is ranked 243rd, while West Carteret is ranked 259th).
