Football Recap: North Hall Trojans vs. Johnson Knights
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Hall). They breezed by the Johnson Knights to the tune of 56-7 on Friday. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.
A big part of North Hall's win came down to the chemistry between Smith Mcgarvey and his top target Cole Cable. Mcgarvey threw for 140 yards and four touchdowns on perfect 9-for-9 passing while Cable picked up 94 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Ty Kemp also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to North Hall's defense and their three sacks. Robby Lee was especially locked on to Johnson's QB and sacked him twice.
Despite the loss, Johnson still got an impressive performance from Montyrious Young, who rushed for 82 yards and a touchdown. Young showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 56 yards.
The victory (which was North Hall's seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-2. As for Johnson, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Hall will welcome Dawson County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Hall is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 31 points per game this season. As for Johnson, they and White County are set to duel on Friday. Johnson is facing White County at the right time seeing as White County is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
