Softball Recap: Hazen Falls to Rugby in First Game of Season

Hazen kicked off their season on the road on Saturday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Rugby Panthers, falling 18-12. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it 12 in a row.

Mattea Hysjulien was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Presley Wallender, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.

Hazen and Rugby will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Hazen sees the field they'll take on South Prairie/Max at 4:30 p.m. on April 8. As for Rugby, their break will end when they face Ray at 4:30 p.m. on April 8.
