Springfield is 7-1-1 against Woodridge since April of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Spartans will look to defend their home field against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Springfield has three straight wins, Woodridge has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Springfield came out on top against Norton on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run seventh inning. The Spartans took their match against the Panthers 8-3.

Joey Klein made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kendall Crytzer was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Izzy Potter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Woodridge's offense. They came up short against Manchester on Wednesday, falling 13-0.
Woodridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julia Elkins, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Springfield pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Woodridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-18.
Woodridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Springfield has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Woodridge, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given Springfield's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
