Football Recap: Leto Takes a Loss

Leto extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to four on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-3. They were outmatched by the Northside Christian Mustangs and fell 39-8. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 495th, while the Mustangs are ranked 188th).

Cayden Chitwood threw for 28 yards. Maurice Jackson was his top target, picking up 28 receiving yards. On the ground, Ayden Stephens rushed for 60 yards.

As for Northside Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.0 points on average this season.

A big part of Northside Christian's win came down to the chemistry between Jack Griffin and his top target Jayce Jones. Griffin threw for 219 yards and four TDs on only 18 passes while Jones gained 111 total yards and four touchdowns. Those four passing touchdowns gave Griffin a new career-high.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Leto will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lennard at 7:30 p.m. on the 19th. As for Northside Christian, they will take on Seffner Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
