The Eisenhower Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Serrano Diamondbacks at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Eisenhower beat San Bernardino 8-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Jenna Vallin made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up five earned runs off eight hits. Vallin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Azaleah Baca was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Cari Nelson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Eisenhower hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in 13 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Serrano came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 9-0 margin over the Aztecs. Considering the Diamondbacks have won three games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Eisenhower, Serrano also got a great game from a two-way player: Sam Conan. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. With that strong performance, Conan is now averaging an impressive 6 strikeouts per game. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Autumn Pratt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Carlie Moore, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Eisenhower's record now sits at 2-0. As for Serrano, their record is now 4-5.
Eisenhower came up short against Serrano when the teams last played back in March of 2024, falling 4-1. Can Eisenhower avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
