Volleyball Game Preview: Spring Grove Lions vs. Southland Rebels

Spring Grove has gone a perfect 5-0 against Southland recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Lions will face off against the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Spring Grove's tournament run continued when they took on Cleveland on Saturday. The Lions took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clippers. The Lions have struggled against the Clippers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Southland didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Meadow on Thursday and fell 3-2. While the Rebels didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Superlarks 25-21 in the first set.

Southland wouldn't go down easily and took Grand Meadow into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking five-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-21, 17-25, 25-16, 15-10.

Spring Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Southland, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Everything went Spring Grove's way against Southland when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Spring Grove made off with a 3-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
