Otay Ranch and La Jolla are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. Otay Ranch will face off against La Jolla at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Otay Ranch's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so La Jolla's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Otay Ranch is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Mission Bay just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They fell 7-4 to the Buccaneers.

Santiago Araiza was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three).

On the hitting side, Otay Ranch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Ulloa, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, La Jolla sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over Mater Dei Catholic on Monday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Vikings.

Zoran Shepanski looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

Otay Ranch suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 5-3. As for La Jolla, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Otay Ranch was able to grind out a solid win over La Jolla in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, winning 3-0. Will Otay Ranch repeat their success, or does La Jolla has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
