Softball Recap: Six Straight Home Victories for Troy

Troy won against Joaquin last Thursday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. The Troy Trojans beat the Anderson-Shiro Fighting Owls by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-1. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by six runs or more this season.

Isabella Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests.

In other batting news, Melanie Zapata was incredible, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Shelby Eddlemon, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.

Troy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Troy's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson-Shiro, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Troy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-3 victory against Riesel on the 7th. As for Anderson-Shiro, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 5-3 loss against McGregor on the 8th.
