Softball Game Preview: McNair Eagles vs. Bear Creek Bruins

McNair is 0-10 against Bear Creek since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will host the Bruins at 4:00 p.m. McNair has given up an average of 9.2 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

McNair is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They came up short against Edison, falling 20-13. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly seven runs.

Naohmi Tapia and Emerald Gerardo stepped up to the plate in a big way. Tapia scored two runs while going 2-for-2, while Gerardo scored two runs while getting on base in two of her five plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Bear Creek strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 6-2 victory over Stagg.

Natalie Trujillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Bear Creek saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amiyah Owens, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one run. That triple was Owens' first of the season.

McNair's loss dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bear Creek, their win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0.

Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. McNair hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Bear Creek struggles in that department as they've averaged .392. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
