Football Recap: Buckholts Badgers vs. Non Varsity Opponent

Buckholts gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 58-12 victory over Non Varsity Opponent. The Badgers' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Buckholts to victory, but perhaps none more so than Blade Duarte, who rushed for 22 yards and two scores, and also threw for 30 yards and one touchdown. Another back making a difference was Jaxson Sliger, who rushed for 67 yards and one TD.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Buckholts, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Miguel Hernandez, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Buckholts didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Joseph Hansen-Blum and Johandy Ventura. Hansen-Blum got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Coming up, Buckholts will hit the road for the first time this season to take on Gustine at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Non Varsity Opponent, they will take on Gloucester at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.
