Softball Recap: Tri-West Hendricks Comes Up Short

If Tri-West Hendricks was feeling good fresh off their 23-0 takedown of Frankfort on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bruins fell just short of the Indianapolis Bishop Chatard Trojans by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The Bruins were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Natalie Tharp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tri-West Hendricks saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keira Johnson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

Tri-West Hendricks now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.

Tri-West Hendricks will take on Corydon Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers will roll in looking for their 12th straight win, something the Bruins surely won't give up without a fight. As for Indianapolis Bishop Chatard, they will square off against Covenant Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.9 runs per game this season.
