Palmyra got their first taste of in-conference action on Monday and they started things off strong. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pemberton Hornets, sneaking past 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Hornets: they've now won three in a row.
Steven Peltz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That run marked the first that he scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dean Maute, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Nate Bachich was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
