Baseball Game Preview: Belfast Lions vs. Winslow Black Raiders

Belfast is 8-1 against Winslow since May of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Lions will host the Black Raiders at 4:00 p.m. Belfast will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

It was a proper cat-fight when Belfast faced off against Waterville on Friday. The Lions came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 7-3.

Gary Gale tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sam Jewett, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Joseph Parker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Winslow's offense. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to Boothbay, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Black Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Belfast's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Winslow, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Belfast took their win against Winslow in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 7-0 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Black Raiders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
