Softball Game Preview: Ninety Six Wildcats vs. Strom Thurmond Rebels

The Ninety Six Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Strom Thurmond Rebels at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Ninety Six is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Midland Valley just ended the team's seven-game winning streak on Wednesday. They took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs.

Saluda hit Strom Thurmond with a five-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Rebels fell 8-4 to the Tigers.

Strom Thurmond's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7. As for Ninety Six, their loss dropped their record down to 15-4.

Ninety Six beat Strom Thurmond 9-5 in their previous matchup on April 1st. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
