Basketball Game Preview: Brookland Bearcats vs. Greene County Tech Golden Eagles

The Brookland Bearcats and the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Brookland picked up another tournament win on Friday. They walked away with a 54-41 win over Blytheville. Given the Bearcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 30th, while the Chickasaws are ranked 100th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Greene County Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They blew past Oklahoma F 59-28 on Friday. The Golden Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 29 points or more this season.

Brookland better keep an eye on Myiah Butler. She was instrumental in Greene County Tech's win, almost dropping a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Butler has posted since back in December of 2023. Addie Ryan was another key player, putting up seven points and six assists.

Greene County Tech smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Greene County Tech's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31 points. As for Brookland, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
