Softball Recap: Our Lady of Mercy Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Buena on Monday, Our Lady of Mercy Academy came back down to earth. The Villagers lost 14-6 to the Absegami Braves on Wednesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 two weeks ago.

Our Lady of Mercy Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Teegan Sofran, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Another was Isabel Quinlan, who earned two runs and one stolen base.

Our Lady of Mercy Academy has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Absegami, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-4.

Looking ahead, Our Lady of Mercy Academy will challenge Mainland Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Absegami, they will face off against Hammonton at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Braves have won three straight at home, while the Blue Devils won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
