Volleyball Recap: Perry Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Sunrise Mountain

Perry faced Sunrise Mountain in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Pumas took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Pumas of the 2-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2023.

Their offense was headlined by Kalista Fuller and Sophia Gregg, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Kail Shill and her seven assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Perry and nudges their season record down to 17-10. As for Sunrise Mountain, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.

Coincidentally, Perry and Sunrise Mountain will both be playing St. Henry the next time they take the court. The Mustangs will head out to face the Crusaders at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, while the Pumas will play them later in the day, at 3:15 p.m.
