Basketball Game Preview: King & Queen Central Royal Tigers vs. Essex Trojans

King & Queen Central and Essex are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The King & Queen Central Royal Tigers will be playing at home against the Essex Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. King & Queen Central has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with seven straight defeats, while Essex will come in with three straight victories.

Last Friday, King & Queen Central was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-56 to Carver College and Career Academy.

Despite the loss, King & Queen Central got top-tier performance from Gerard Hill, who posted 27 points. That was a full 48.2% of King & Queen Central's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Gibson, who scored 15 points.

Meanwhile, Essex was able to grind out a solid win over Northumberland on Tuesday, taking the game 59-49.

Essex pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for King & Queen Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-9.
