Basketball Recap: Wilson Continues Road Dominance on Tuesday

Wilson had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 77-51 margin over the Hartsville Red Foxes. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Tristan Thompson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 11 for 16 on his way to 29 points along with seven rebounds and five assists. His evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Leonard, who went 8 of 16 en route to 17 points and eight boards.

They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Wilson was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hartsville only posted five assists.

Despite the defeat, Hartsville saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayson Dawson went 7 for 16 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for Dawson. Tristian Spann was another key player, putting up 13 points.

Wilson pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.5 points per game. As for Hartsville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wilson will venture away from home to take on Crestwood at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hartsville, they will head out to square off against Lower Richland at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
