Volleyball Recap: Crestview's Undefeated Season over After 17 Games

If Crestview was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Champion on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Rebels came up short against the Austintown-Fitch Falcons on Wednesday, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Rebels have suffered since October 31, 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-14, 25-20.

Alaina Auer paced Crestview's offense, picking up 18 kills. Auer got some help from Sophia Stewart and her 16 assists.

Leading Austintown-Fitch to victory were Elizabeth Sherwood and Rylie Simons. Sherwood had eight digs and three assists, while Simons had 11 digs and two aces. Simons has been hot for a while, having also posted 16 or more assists the last 44 times she's played.

Having lost for the first time this season, Crestview fell to 16-1. As for Austintown-Fitch, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Crestview will square off against Garfield at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Austintown-Fitch, they will take on Nordonia at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
