Basketball Recap: Fayetteville Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Springdale

On Saturday, Fayetteville faced Springdale in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fayetteville took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Springdale. The loss continues a trend for Fayetteville in their matchups with Springdale: they've now lost three in a row.

Fayetteville's defeat dropped their record down to 16-5. As for Springdale, the victory (which was their 17th in a row) raised their record to 25-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fayetteville will challenge Southside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Springdale, they will take on Bentonville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Springdale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Bentonville likes a good challenge.
