Basketball Game Preview: Classical Academy Caimans vs. Calvin Christian Crusaders

Classical Academy is 2-8 against Calvin Christian since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Classical Academy Caimans will look to defend their home court against the Calvin Christian Crusaders at 6:30 p.m. Classical Academy will be strutting in after a victory while Calvin Christian will be coming in after a loss.

Last Tuesday, it was close, but Classical Academy sidestepped Escondido Adventist Academy for a 46-43 win.

Nathan French was the offensive standout of the contest as he posted 14 points.

Meanwhile, Calvin Christian fought the good fight in their overtime match against San Diego Jewish Academy on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Lions 60-56. The Crusaders' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Classical Academy will need focus on slowing down Noah Lampkins, one of several Calvin Christian players who made an impact when they last played. He shot 4-for-5 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. The dominant performance gave Lampkins a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Lapka, who earned 14 points along with five assists and five boards.

Calvin Christian now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 4-9.
