Softball Recap: Leonardtown Starts off Right with Win over Arundel

Leonardtown had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Arundel Wildcats 7-1 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Raiders, who have now won seven contests in a row dating back to last season.

Claire Radford spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks.

On the hitting side, Vanessa Brooks was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Kendall Wathen was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Arundel's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Coming up, Leonardtown will challenge Great Mills at 4:30 p.m. on March 21st. As for Arundel, they will head out on the road to square off against North County at 4:45 p.m. on March 21st.
