Baseball Recap: Somerset Tech Comes Up Short

Somerset Tech blew Perth Amboy Vo-Tech out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Perth Amboy Vo-Tech got their revenge. The Jaguars fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 21-19. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (18), the Jaguars still had to take the loss.

Caden Winnicki made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-6 with one home run, seven RBI, and two stolen bases. He also scored three runs, which is notable because Somerset Tech is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nicholas Raspovich, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his six plate appearances.

Somerset Tech moved to 3-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Perth Amboy Vo-Tech, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Somerset Tech will host Timothy Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Perth Amboy Vo-Tech, they will head out on the road to square off against Dunellen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Destroyers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
