The Highland Huskies will square off against the Spackenkill Spartans at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Highland will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Highland will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Pine Plains, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Huskies came out on top against the Bombers by a score of 9-6 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Spackenkill had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They never let Dover get on the board and left with a 13-0 win on Thursday. Considering the Spartans have won five games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Cadie Hanaburgh made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cora Polakowski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Adriana Alessandro, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Spackenkill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Highland pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Spackenkill, the victory got them back to even at 8-8.
Highland skirted past Spackenkill 9-7 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Spartans have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
