Baseball Game Preview: Red Bank Regional Bucs vs. Ranney

Red Bank Regional and Ranney are an even 3-3 against one another since May of 2018, but likely not for long. The Bucs will venture away from home to square off against Ranney at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Red Bank Regional's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Ranney's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Wednesday, Red Bank Regional didn't have quite enough to beat St. John-Vianney and fell 2-1. The Bucs haven't had much luck with the Lancers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Ranney owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They came out on top against Marlboro by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that Ranney has won by exactly four runs.

The result came thanks to Nate Fuller's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up 11 Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ranney saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ricky Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was Lopez's first of the season.

Ranney has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season. As for Red Bank Regional, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Red Bank Regional beat Ranney 10-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Will the Bucs repeat their success, or do Ranney have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
