Basketball Game Preview: Anzar Hawks vs. York Falcons

Anzar and York are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Anzar Hawks duke it out with the York Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Anzar didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Ceiba College Preparatory Academy, but they still walked away with a 50-44 victory.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask York). They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat Ceiba College Preparatory Academy 88-50. The win was familiar territory for the Falcons who have now won five contests in a row.

York found their leader in sophomore Gianni Zeljo, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. The game was Zeljo's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Kai Tsuchitani was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 15 points and four steals.

York's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.3 points per game. As for Anzar, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
